Not sure which Leon's leg/ running game/ woodhead thread to put this in so im starting my own since its all related.
First of all, im not gonna act like im not concerned with losing leon. its a big blow to the team mentally as well as physically. that being said, it opens some interesting thoughts. For one, we can now stop the "bench TJ, get leon more carries" fights. We can also begin the "bench TJ, get woodhead more carries" fights. Honestly though, with TJ and Greene, i still feel like they have plenty of firepower in the ground game. And its probably safe to assume woodhead can handle all the checkdowns and screens leon can. they're actually pretty similar physically and i doubt very much we have to worry about woodhead not bringing enough energy and intensity. this guy wants to prove he can play. Im also pretty sure he can handle kickoff returns. I didnt get to see the game, so im not sure who did. obviously oakland didnt score, so there werent any kickoffs to the jets haha. As crazy as it sounds, because he may be their best player on offense, i think losing leon is less of a blow then losing jenkins. its easier to spread the ball on offense (especially when theres another guy physically identical to leon) then it is to act like you're not missing a 365 pound nose tackle. thoughts? |

I think losing Leon could be as catastrophic as losing Big Jenks if Schotty doesn't make the right adjustments to his gameplan for the remainder of the season, truth be told without Leon, he (Schotty) simply doe not have the same team.
On the bright side Shonn Greene is a Monster, and playing with Jones will present a punishing smash-mouth kind of game that the Jets have lacked for years...it ain't even a one-two punch but more like a uppercut-right cross knockout combo. Now all that needs to be done is of Mark to learn how to throw a decent screen albeit to Woodhead, Clowney, Keller or even Brad and that will most assuredly open things up for him. |

I'll tell you what losing Leon Washington means.
Special teams which was a threat=no more threat. At least not what it used to be until today. ^^^one less problem for the opposing opponent. Don't know about Green yet but TJ can't catch. Now we don't have a good screen so if TJ is in the back, and they blitz, they gonna get to our QB and it's going to be incomplete, an interception, or not much of anything. ^^^THAT MY FRIEND IS THE BIGGEST LOSS FOR OUR TEAM! Having LW in the backfield he was a threat, you had to account for him. You had to know where he was at all times, now they're just going to fire off on Sanchez, drop a LB to smack a RB and lay em out hopefully cause a fumble or worse pick it off since they aren't nearly as fast as LW is. I doubt Woodhead will play RB. Let's be honest he's a little small in weight wise. I'm not saying he can't play the position, I'm just saying no no no no no no. Green is a maybe LW is a constant. This could also be bad news for play action. |

You know, if you go to the search mode of this message board and type in Woodhead, you will see the same guys, over and over again discredit him because of his size. Why? He is basically the same size as Leon! Isn't Leon the second coming of Christ? He is if anybody believes what the same naysayers wright everyday! Talk about talking out both sides of your mouth! You got something against him because he is a white RB / WR? What else could it be?

Nobody does. That's why we should use him while we still have that element of the unknown.
