What about W.Mercilus!!!! We need to take a closer look at this guy...he's a sack artist and thats exactly what we need...he will also be almost guaranteed to be there at 16!!!

I think Brockers could be a great prospet to play DE in a 3-4...He's big/strong and has long arms...reminds me of a taller Wilkerson. If he learn the position, he could become a great prototypical 3-4 DE.
Coples has the athleticism to play both 3-4 DE and 4-3 DE, Rex wouldn't of ask Quinton to do linebacker drills at his Pro-day if he didn't see something...

We have two holes on our defense"

Need a starter at our RE position which is a DT; so a Michael Brockers might be perfect more so then a Whitney Mercilus whom is more like Muhammad Wilkerson...

Think this is the perfect draft to find replacement at both outside linebacker spots...

If the front office can draft either that DT or ROLB with the 1st round selection even if they trade down from 16... We will be able to compliment the other positional needs on day 2 of the draft in rounds 2 & 3... And I feel if we grab that ROLB with the 1st Round selection watch for in draft trade of Calvin Pace...

You make a convincing argument...Hard to imagine Coples covering anyone as an OLB, but he IS a very athletic DE.

Would not mind seeing Pace go, we need to get younger in our LB corp. and there should be a lot of good linebackers still available in rounds 3-5 regardless of how we choose to use our first two picks.

What do you think we could get for Pace anyway...a 4th, a 5th rd. pick?

Pace can be coveted as a 4th this year and a conditional pick next year on performance this season... But now that we have 3-6s & 3-7s we could package 2-6s & 1-7th we Pace to make that 4th this year a 3rd to the right the team... Its all mathematics... Would have to be a 3rd Round in the back end of the round but it is possible... All my thinking is if we replace Pace, we have Harris who is good in coverage and we find another OLB like Curry, or R. Lewis in the 2nd or 3rd Rd to compliment the other OLB... Remember we will still have BT for one year, with Harris & Scott any LBs whom come in have veteran players that understand the system to learn from...

You heard anything about Alabama TE Michael Williams?

6'6", 270lbs, supposed to be a very good blocker...does not have high draft stock, maybe someone worth taking a look at in the 7th Rd.?

These are the non-local visits I know about for this week...

Yes there are prospects that Rex Ryan, Mike T., Mike Pettine, & Scouts in any combo that have visited Pro Days and worked out certain players b/c of the stiff rules of private workouts and non-local visits...

Non-local visits

South Carolina DE/OLB Melvin Ingram

West Virginia DE/OLB Bruce Irvin

Syracuse DE/OLB Chandler Jones

Oregon State LB Cameron Collins

Montana DB Trumaine Johnson

Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd

LSU WR Rueben Randle

Georgia Tech WR Stephen Hill

Wake Forest WR Chris Givens

Utah State RB Robert Turbin

Utah State RB Michael Smith Back-up, Michael Smith, didn’t get a combine invite but could be a steal: He has elite speed (he ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at his pro day) and averaged 7.6 yards per carry last season.

Ole Miss RT Bobby Massie, per ESPN New York. The Jets could add depth along the offensive line via the draft. Massie earned the starting right tackle job at Ole Miss as a true freshman and held that spot until declaring early for the draft. His strength is his size: 6-foot-6, 316 pounds.

Wayne State OL Joe Long
