Default Rugby World Cup In New Zealand

It is a national imperative that New Zealands 'All Blacks' win this years World Cup. For the most part New Zealand has been known for its natural beauty, sheep and its legendary All Blacks. Argueably the best team in the history of the game the All Blacks are a major part of the countries idendity and have helped define how kiwi's are viewed and how they view themselves. That the All Blacks have consistently failed at previous world cups, rugbys holy grail has only further depressed a small but proud nation, who has suffered more than its share of setbacks and adversity. To fail again this year whilst hosting this event would be more than just another failure at a rugby world cup it would be a further loss in that sense of identiy, a small chip in a countries own self belief.

If you could clone Jonah Lomu in his prime you would win easily. What a scary and awesome player he was!!

Solid if unspectacular starts from the AB's,Aussies and France. England decidedly lucky against Argentina. We're making heavy weather of translating forward supremecy here against the USA.....

Impressed with the Romanian forward pack, but looking forward to rekindling the cold war with the US up against the USSR(or whats left of it) Picking a US win. Really looking for solid performances from the All Blacks in pool play, without setting the house on fire. The number of times we have gone thru pool play the team of the comp before stuffing up in the playoffs is beyond a joke - not this time - not at home.

And to think he was lost to the game at 26 thru a kidney transplant, he sure was a monster of the game.

Some really good games to start with, Argentina and Wales did well and came close to beating England and South Africa respectively. Ireland has a tough one coming up against Australia and although I live in OZ now, would still like to see the Irish get up. The US won a hard fought repeat of the cold war with the USSR, but also has some tougher games to come. The All Blacks will be dining on sushi this week.

We're playing like effin drains at the moment and will get a right good seeing-to from the Wallabies I fear.

On the good news front though I'm in the top 200 nationally of the RWC fantasy rugby competition run by the Irish Times newspaper. Not just a pretty face lads.....down there for dancin...up here for thinkin....
