Default -devin smith suffers another torn acl (will miss 2017 season)

Jets receiver Devin Smith?s season is over before it started.

The Jets announced today that Smith suffered a torn ACL at the team?s first offseason workout and will miss the entire 2017 season.

It?s the same ACL that Smith tore in 2015, bringing his rookie season to an end. That injury lingered into 2016 and continued to affect him during his second season. And now his third season is over.

The Jets selected Smith with the 37th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Through three seasons, he has managed just 10 catches.

He does seem prone to this type of injury. I suspect that sometime between now and final roster cuts he will be released.

Goodbye. Boy we sure can pick 'em, even Eggshell Milliner managed more appearances.

I know we are all glad we just added the 2 drafted plus the 2 undrafted wr to our team....not that smith showed us anything, but still our wr corps is unproven and we need all we can get an hope 3 can demonstrate starter potential.

Unlucky.. I feel bad for him. He will be labeled a "bust" .. which sucks because its all injuries. Idk.. his time is most likely done.. we drafted a few good young WRs

I agree. He is a good kid and got a really bad break.
Mac will be blamed for drafting a bust by the less intelligent fans but Devin had no injury history and also competed in track with no issues. I really feel for him.

Now waived.... though apparently if he clears waivers he could go on IR.

Smart move by Mac.
Waiving Smith with a designated injury means he will revert to our IR list when he clears waivers. It's unlikely any team signs him with the injury.
If we placed him directly on
IR he would take up a roster spot. Now he doesn't count against the roster.

Yeah, I think we all saw this coming and to his credit Mac did do it the right way.
