Many of you fuss about people becoming Jet fans when certain players join the team then they leave when the player is traded. One fo the big difference between college and NFL is team allegiance. Most players, not all, go to play at a college of their choice. Perhaps because one of their family members is an alumni or they were always fans themselves.
For the most part the players don't have a choice as to where they are drafted. They are excited about the money or they just want to play pro football and fulfill their dream of being a NFL player.
Could this be the reason why they de so well in college and not so well in pro ball? Unless they are fortunate enough to get drafted by the team of their dreams, it's just a job. There is no allegiance because they know they could get cut or traded. Tim Tebow was loyal to the Broncs and look where it got him.
Could this be the reanson why Conner is not so fired up? Is he a Jet or just hired by the Jets?
There is team allegiance among the fans but for the most part with the players it's just about the money and a chance to play in the spotlight.

Well, you're not going to get drafted unless you performed well in college- that's a no-brainer.

I think it's safe to say that some rookies do not perform as well in the NFL as they did in college because of the elevated level of competition/play- not because they are unhappy with who drafted/hired them.

Either way, players must perform in the NFL or their NFL dream will be very short lived.

Young players are also playing for their next contract. Even if you KNOW you are a great player and just aren't happy with where you were drafted, you still have incentive to play well b/c your stats will generally dictate how much you will earn in your next contract- and ahemmm, if you were to sign with a team you actually like and are 'happy' with.

And let's not get too carried away with 'allegiance' as far as college goes. Their choice is dictated by a plethora of different variables...and i think allegiance is at the bottom of that list.
