Default Andy Griffith

Andrew Samuel "Andy" Griffith (June 1, 1926 – July 3, 2012)

Must of us grew up watching Andy Griffith in the The Andy Griffith Show(1960–1968) as he play Sheriff Andy Taylor along with Deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts) and Sherrif Taylors son Opie (Ronny Howard). Later the show as remaned "Mayberry R.F.D". He later developed Guillain–Barré syndrome in 1986.

Many of you younger folks may remember Andy playing (after overcoming his leg paralysis, as a simple but clever lawyer named Ben Matlock in "Malock" which ran from 1986 to 1995.

In 2009 he played in a hilarious movie "Play the Game" as a lonely, widowed grandfather re-entering the dating world after a 60-year hiatus.

On the morning of July 3, 2012, Griffith died of an undisclosed illness at his home on Roanoke Island in Dare County, North Carolina. He was 86. At the request of his family, he was buried on the island within five hours of his death

Without starting a new thread, lets not forget Ernest Borginine who also just passed. Both these men are Icons I grew up with.
