View Full Version : Favre makes a difference

Hey guys,

I've been following the Jets all year as well as the Packers. (I'm a Packer fan from Wisconsin.) The Jets have multiple threats, but I have to think Brett's presence makes a difference too. For years I've watched him make plays or see opportunities others would have missed, and I've seen him do some of that this year too. Don't get me wrong - Rodgers is OK - but I think Favre was treated badly by the Packers, and I'm cheering for the Jets all the way. So far so good! Go Jets!

(By the way, could we borrow Jenkins for our D in Green Bay? ;-)

Favre's INTs travel further in the air than Chad's do. Usually with more 'zip' on them too!

I think Chad is having a good year beacuse the Fish are using him right. He can get them to the Red Zone all day, but let someone else (Ronnie Brown) handle it from there.

Feel the same way...Favre has brought some special intangibles to the Jets. Unfortunately, in GB, there are not enough veterans with playoff experience to lead that young team...

The CS managed to transform Brett Farve into Chad Pennington. Now, nobody fears this offense and it wouldn't matter if it were Farve, Romo, Cutler, Ryan, ANYONE behind center wearing green and white. Its a systemic problem that starts at the top.

Wow, still rated as 5th? Shows how good we can be, considering how bad we were for the last 2 weeks.

we're only 5th coz of how good we were earlier in the season, the only person who would be afraid of or offense would be Gholston, hes scared of QBs.

There needs to be changes on the O if we're gonna make the playoffs

What is with you people in Green Bay that you worship Brett like a God? I don't get it.
We admire the greatest to ever play the game, Joe Namath by the way, but we haven't built a shrine to him!

He's just a QB!

UpstateMike

I don't care what he does in the locker room. But what he's shown us on the field this year is that he's not even as good as some rookie QB's out there. And thats the facts. I have never seen such stupid interceptions out of a Jets QB my whole life. And he is rarely on target with his long ball. And god forbid he has to scramble for a first down or something. Didn't think it was a good idea getting him at first, then I warmed to him when we were winning, even while gagging at some of his throws, all the while waiting for that "magic" everyone talks about. But the past month (and the beginning of the season) has shown nothing short of below average play. Time to retire Brett, before your legacy is tarnished any further.

He has had a bad couple weeks, But all you people wishing him to leave and saying bad things about him, when he is gone it will be the same as it used to be 4-12 and no one will hear about the jets anymore, like years ago...

I've said it years ago, Favre is a pure ESPN creation. The NFL needed a big time QB to market the game in between the time of Elway, Marino & Montana until the next wave of Great QB's, Manning and Brady. How else do you explain the hype for a guy thats won exactly 3 playoff games in the last 10 years? Not only that, but in those 3 playoff runs, 2 of them came to an end with Int's that a High school QB wouldn't throw. He was a good QB that was marketed to fill a gap in what the NFL was lacking, nothing more.

U guys dont get it.. Brett is HOF but that is OVER stop making excuses for him.. 3 play off wins in 10 years is not worth the holyness some ppl give him lord

In his first year replacing Testaverde Pennington helped reverse the Jets' fortunes by leading the 1-4 team to an eventual 9-7 record and an AFC East division championship. Despite playing less than a full season, Pennington managed to throw for 3,120 yards with 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. His 104.2 quarterback rating during the 2002 season is a team record. Pennington led the Jets to a first round 41-0 blowout of the Indianapolis Colts in that season's playoffs. While this was his first season as a starter, it remains Pennington's best season of his career.

Come on man Chads arm is weak but lets face the facts CHad had no O line blocking for him.. its not like chad just hurt himself while throwing.. It was him getting flung around that made him get two operations

ya but at least Chad had sometime to know the players, and how they ran, Favre had two weeks to learn the play book and threw some ints because of miss communication and miss understanding... just saying ya 19 is not good but they were not all his fault.

Jets337
12-26-2008, 08:53 PM
I think he had to scratch that itch one more time. Now, if it ends up that his shoulder is truly injured and not just sore, then that may explain some of his lousy passes the past few weeks. However, why aren't coaches noticing that? Why arent' they getting him checked? If they announce 2 days after the season that he has a torn rotator cuff, I'd think that would add more fuel to the fire of getting Mangini out of here.

You never heard anything about the Jets because
A) You're an NFC city
B) There's nothing else more important than Packer football in Wisconsin.
C) Did you really care about anything non-Packer related before "God" got traded?

Give me a freakin' break. Jets fans don't need Packer crybabies who miss Brett's support to help us. We've been doing fine w/out you for almost 50 seasons.

Enjoy what? I'm tired of "moral victories" with this team. 32 years as a season ticket holder, I've heard all of this before.

As for Brett "hero worship", I'm sick of that too. I've seen all the Packer jerseys this year. They should all go stick with their team and their future QB and get over it already!

Jets fans...like the city we live near (NYC) are brash and arrogant. We get little to no respect around the league and we're 2nd fiddle in our own town. That's one think I love about Jets fans. We can say what we want about our team, but if someone else does, we'll fight the world about it!

Of course we still need to beat the Phins.

Another thing you Favre fans need to relax. No Favre did not save this team we were fine without him we will be fine when he's gone. I respect Favre but don't bash the Jets that's where I draw the line. Yeah we were 4-12 and 1-15 one year but we manage to turn it around.Favre did not help us win games T.J and Wash and our Defence earlier in the season did.

For the most part the Jets have made the PO's quite a bit in the last 10 years but we are one and done. Vinny and Chad held their own before Favre got here.

Sure Favre brought all the bandwagon fans over when the Jets grabed him. I excepted that but don't bash the team because some people are bashing Favre. If anything you Favre fans can bash on Mangini all day. LOL

*Directs negative energy at Baltimore for them to lose*

All I care about right now is by some miracle we get into PO's.

Sure our D looks a bit better but not much. Bowens needs to relax on them late hits. Jags are down 10-3 right now. Come on Mangini man up and do something! Show that you have some B@llZ. Don't let Favre do what he wants we will lose this game.

For years I've watched him make plays or see opportunities others would have missed, and I've seen him do some of that this year too. Don't get me wrong - Rodgers is OK - but I think Favre was treated badly by the Packers, and I'm cheering for the Jets all the way. So far so good! Go Jets!

(By the way, could we borrow Jenkins for our D in Green Bay? ;-)

You want Brett back? Please take him!
He sucked today like he sucked the last 5 games of the season!
He's finished as you could tell from the pictures he was taking on the sidelines with his family after the warmups ended. I'm sick of Packers fans telling US what to do. Go eat some cheese and stay on your own forums!

You sound like a Packer fan *Cough* I mean Favre fan yourself. I am a Diehard Jet fan and I don't abandon my team when they do bad but I sure as heck want somebody to hang for it.

Favre did nothing for this team but fill the wallets up for the Jets big wigs in the front office. He was their mascot/cashcow.

If you like the Packers/Favre so much go the Packers board. You being a so called lifelong Jet fan should know by now how we the fans act every single lossing season.

Yes...

his understudies have been Mark Brunell, Matt Hasslebeck and Aaron Rodgers.

Its unlikely he'll ever be a coach, but Mark could've used a mentor like favre.

Why wouldn't you? he leads the NFL in passer rating, 107.4, and has the least Int's of any starting QB at this age...he knows the game...

Brett is all about Brett. He has had no interest in mentoring anyone. Besides, if we want Mark Sanchez to turn into a primadona, he'll be able to figure that out all on his own.

^after his presser in jacksonville, he's almost already there.

Brett is all about Brett...maybe, but Minnesota seems to be doing fine with him there.

Don't get me wrong. Brett has incredible talent and is likely the missing link for the Vikes. He is just not the mentoring type. He wanted to be in Minnesota all along. Solid defense, all pro RB, he was the missing link. Plus he gets to shove it down GB's throat.
