A 39 year old ex Packer and Jet qb stated today to the Minnesota Vikings he will stay retired. Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Viking fans breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Maybe he'll pull a Roger Clemens and sign with a playoff contender halfway through the season.

Nasty scenario - Brady re injures himself and Favre unretires to help them out. (He promised Tanny he wouldn't do that and Favre never goes back on his word so we are ok)

I agree, May 8, 2009 is a great day to finally decide it is tie to hang up the old pads. The man can call it a career and enjoy looking forward to his Hall Of Fame induction. Too bad he will probable change his mind and join the Vikings tomorrow anyway.:D

I don't believe that this neccesarily says it's the end. They may want to make it look like they had to beg him, so he looks better in the whole thing...

He has stated that he hasn't even picked up a football since the end of the 08 season. Between the injury, and just the nature of arm inactivity, I'd think it would be even tougher for him to get into any type of football shape. Most teams would likely want him to have the surgery the Jets wanted him to have, before signing him. Now, a qb goes down in training camp or pre season, I guess his phone could ring. Heck, we let him play even though his arm was clearly breaking down late in the season.

Is it true the Green Bay Packers have called Minnesota and offered to pay half of Favre's 2009 salary if they sign him?

no news outlets here in wisconsin mention anything like that, would be interesting if that had happened

I thought this is a Jet website. Favre is no longer Jet, what is the necessities of talking about him? (being retired or not retired).

Good point. Moved the thread to General NFL.
By the way, according to ESPN, President of Vikings says they are interested in this certain QB.

I wish we could all forget the name Brett Favre until the day of his HOF induction..
