INDUSTRY, Calif. -- City Council members in the city of Industry unanimously approved a proposal for a pro football stadium intended to lure a team back to the Los Angeles area.

Thursday's vote helps clear the way for developers of the $800 million venue to begin contacting NFL teams about a possible move to the industrial and warehousing city 15 miles east of Los Angeles.

Officials with developer Majestic Real Estate Co. have said they would begin those discussions about a month after the vote.

Majestic intends to pay for the stadium with private funds and start construction as soon as a team has committed to playing there.

Neighboring cities concerned about traffic and noise have threatened lawsuits to stop the stadium.

d'ya reckon it would work this time?

good info! I would think the second largest city in the country could support a team!

You would think so! Yet, everytime they get a team, they lose a team. L.A. cannot/does not support the NFL. If there is a team looking to move, I'm sure there's someplace better.

Is there actually a chance the NFL could expand domestically? The way Goodell has been talking over the last couple of years it seems Mexico City has a better chance of getting an NFL team than LA.

Mexico City? interesting. I can't see the NFL expanding though, they would need to add two teams to make it even. It would need to be a team that wants/needs to move. If a team were to move, who do you think it would be?
