Hey guys, I'm getting a Jets jersey for my birthday, but I'm torn about which to pick? What are your thoughts?
My favorite players (In no particular order) are:
Brett Favre
Leon Washington
Thomas Jones
Darelle Revis
Kerry Rhodes
Kris Jenkins
Dustin Keller
Keep in mind that I want a franchise player, I bought a Vilma jersey last year and we traded him so that was disappointing. I'm leaning towards Keller, Washington or Revis, thoughts?

Well its over, I had to make my decision tonight, so I got a Leon jersey, the Keller was out of stock (?). I was thinking about Revis but decided against it, my next one will be Revis I think.

I am having trouble deciding as well. Im really torn between Jenkins, Washington, Rhodes and Revis. I think without Jenkins this team would not be the same, but Leon is just so friggin exciting to watch (however im worried that next year is his contract year). Rhodes has been a staple for this time and he just got re-signed and Revis is lockdown but its hard to root for a corner all the time since they rarely have big plays.

I remember someone on JI saying the exact same thing about our #1 LB Jonathan Vilma.
Go with Joe Namath, Joe Klecko, Wayne Chrebet or Curtis Martin.
Those jerseys never go out of style unless Woody gets completely fed up, sells the NY Jets & the new owner renames the team the "Saddle River Squirrels". :p

A jersey is seasonal at best, and much too casual to be worn to most gatherings without ridicule. A gentleman should have a minimum of six sport coats in his fashion arsenal. Whether it's a high tea affair, cocktails with friends or work acquaintances, impromptu functions at the literary club, one is always de rigueur when properly appointed in a sports coat, matching--properly starched--buttoned down shirt (preferably with French cuffs and smartly selected link knots), and university cravat. I will leave my comments on correct pants to be worn for another time.
Push come to shove, and you must select a jersey from the list above, I would venture forth with a Washington variety. His remarkable velocity and elusiveness has, truly, impressed all we Jets enthusiasts.

My hobby is collecting Jets Jerseys, which I wear basically year round except for 2 months in the summer, then I switch to Jet related t-shirts... so I say buy all of them, at some point. I am a big guy so it is hard for me to find jerseys that fit, so when I find one I buy it. I just had a Jet jersey made at Jets Shop with Pat Tillman's name and number. I think it is real cool to honor that guy, no matter who you root for... I just couldn't wear a Cardinals Jersey.
However I do wear a Namath Rams jersey on occasion.
I have around 50 to 60 Jerseys, not counting duplicates (I might have 5 Pennington's) which includes some guys that were Jets for 5 minutes like Kimo Von Oehlhoffen and Kevan Barlow, and I also have a couple obscure jerseys, my favorite of which is Kurt Sohn, one of our greatest special teams players ever... Oh and I have a few Jet college jerseys, Clemens, Gastineau, Vilma, Namath...
I have mental problems...

I think i am the only Jets fan that secretly wants us to permanently change to the blue and gold. I love the old school smash mouth look they bring. Green and white reminds me of Hess. But I have been and always will be a fan, no matter what uni they are wearing. :)
Along these lines ... have we ever had an official black/green shirt ?? I don't know where that thought came from ...

Yes our beloved head honcho of NY Jets merchandise has come up with tons of great new gear & jerseys ever since he took over (thanks Chris!) but the black jersey with the green lettering wasn't one of the "big sellers." It just didn't look "Jetsy" enough & black is too hot to wear early in the season when we have 99 degree heat and 100% humidity well into October.
However check with JetsShop right here on this site to see if they have any left and/or where you might be able to get one.;)

Dunnie, I love our Jets green but I'll say we sure do play a lot better in the blue and gold unis. My only complaint is it doesn't feel like I'm watching the Jets when they're in the Titans throwback but they aren't nearly as bad as some fans think they are. Personally, I'd like to see the Jets use the 80's "Sack Exchange" unis for a throwback.

If you're a Jets fan...that's implied! I suffer from Jetsitis as well.
I have bad luck with getting jerseys and the player getting hurt.
1st jersey - Lyons (10-1 and he gets hurt)
2nd jersey - Toon (it's my fault he has to sit in dark rooms today from concussions, not badly thrown balls that got him creamed)
3rd jersey - Chrebet (I waited until the end of his career - Which I probably caused as well!)
4th jersey - Martin (at least he walked away in 1 piece)
(I think I even had Namath shirt when I was a kid -- impossible to get jerseys like today).

He also had a serious neck injury (injured on the job as a fireman). He decided to undergo an intense rehab program for that injury which prevented him from attending many of the games. Given that he had knee surgery, I suspect that his decision to fore go the neck surgery was due to the seriousness of the injury and the risk involved in surgery. Quote - "People think I was giving up, I didn't want to come. It wasn't that, believe me," he said. "Whatever the record was, it didn't matter. I was biting at the bit every Sunday. It was killing me that I couldn't be there"

exactly! this guy is our most recognizable fan, and obviously as dedicated as it comes! i'll bet when 40 people are asking him for autographs and pictures, sometimes he wishes he wasn't as famous he was (i dont know the man personally), but its obvious he is a regular guy, who caught on with bringing back the chant, and he's gained a lot of notariety through that. by all accounts he pays for his own tickets as well! how people can badmouth this guy, and question his fandom because he missed the season last year due to injury (after missing 1 game in the previous 20 years or so), is ridiculous! how many games has Mangini'sJets missed in the last 20 years? ill bet more than 9. when you see Fireman Ed on the video board screaming at the top of his lungs with the veins bulging out of his head, trying to get people to support our team (most of the people just end up sitting on their hands anyway), and then for someone to question kind of fan this is, it's bullshiite, plain and simple

I remember an article last year regarding this. He was actually contacted by the JETS organization inquiring why he wasnt there.
Though Im not a fireman fanatic..meaning I do not worship him...but I have no problem with him. But heck I certainly wouldnt bad mouth him since he does have an honorable job as a firefighter and was injured helping others.
Well I had my 10 seconds of fame at the meadowlands. I seriously doubt anyone her can remember, but at the home Buffalo game back in 1998 I was on the big screen during a timeout. I really liked Wayne Chrebet, that guy played with heart every time he stepped on the field and he was very clutch especially on 3rd down. He truly was a tremendous example of how you can overcome the odds and accomplish anything you want if you put your mind to it. Overall, he had a good career with the Jets but I don't think he even made a Pro Bowl, did he? I don't think anyone's jersey should be retired that didn't make a Pro Bowl. But that doesn't mean he wasn't a great player. Also, the Jets already honored him with "Wayne Chrebet Day", I think they would've retired his jersey then, if they were going to do it.

They won't retire his number. If you retire his you might as well retire a bunch of other guys, wesley Walker, Al Toon, Gastineau, etc . There'd be no numbers left. The next one will be Martin, after he gets in the hall.

Let me add to my earlier post. I'm not a huge fan of retiring jersey's in general because of what SackExchange said. If you start retiring every really good player's jersey then you'll eventually start to run out of numbers. Personally, I like how the Redskins do it with the "Ring Of Honor" 70 Greatest Redskins, I think they just honored Sean Taylor into it. They have up to 70 players that they're going to honor over time, and I think that's a great way to do it. Anyway, I think the Jets should do something similar to that because they've had a lot of great players that have contributed a lot to this team and they don't really get the respect they deserve. I know Chrebet would immediately be inducted into a Jets "Ring of Honor" or something similar to this.

Make a Jets HOF to honor the great players. Chrebet would be there. Retire Martin's jersey absolutely. I can't think of anyone besides the 3 already retired and Martin that are that outstanding. Plenty deserving of a Jets HOF. No ring of honor when you play in a shared stadium. Each team should have a HOF at the new stadium.

Martin and Chrebet. My 2 all time favorites. Both class acts, and a lot of players could learn a few things about humility from those 2. Don't think they'll retire Wayne's number, but Martin's will be after he gets into the HOF.

Wayne was a fan favorite, but he was only a #1 WR for what, 2 years? in his career. He was an excellent third down option for a long time, but if you're going to retire a guy's jersey with his kind of production, there are plenty of guys who should have theirs retired first. Wesley Walker and Al Toon are two obvious ones.
For now, the only Jet who seems like it is imperative to retire his number is Curtis Martin. And I assume they'll do so as soon as he is inducted into the HOF

I like the Ring of Honor approach more that retiring jerseys. I absolutely loved Chrebet, had a white #80 and treated it like gold until the game against Chicago when Chrebet attempted to hurdle a player and let go of the ball to break his fall. I ripped that jersey right down the middle and I never saw Chrebet in the same light again. I went from loving him to merely accepting him from that point on. I have forgiven him now and could see him in a Ring of Honor type situation in the new stadium. He was a solid Jets player who had a moment of weakness.

I concur, MeanGreen. There are several other players who, I believe, possessed the mettle, skill and fortitude to have their numbers retired even prior to the impressive Curtis Martin. In no particular order, they are Al Toon, Wesley Walker, Emerson Boozer, Marty Lyons, Joe Walton, and Johnny Mitchell. The last two names are juxtaposed solely for the purposes of levity.

I support the ring of honor approach, particularly in the new stadium. Chrebet was an all time great for the NYJ, but not a hall of fame player. If he was a HOFer, I can see retiring the Jersey.

Yeah, I agree with Jets337 about having a "Jets Ring Of Honor" when the new stadium opens. I say scrap the retiring jersey numbers and go with the Ring of Honor. It's kind of dumb to retire jerseys cause you'll eventually start running out of numbers. The Jets originally only retired HOFer's numbers but they broke that rule with Klecko. I really like Klecko and I think he should be in but if they're going to start retiring everyone's numbers then we'd definately run out. Go with a Ring of Honor.

The new "SHARED stadium with a Jet's ring of honor. Are the Giants going to cover it with Blue paper mache when thy have a home game?:D:D A ring of honor would be great but,IMO, only in a stadium you don't share with another NFL franchise.
As far as Chrebet's number being retired, there's a list of other deserving player's from the 70's and 80's that should come first.....Klecko and Wesley Walker come to mind.

Agreed, but Klecko's already is.
Looking at stadium plans, there seems to be room for this type of stuff for both teams.

You must be a Mets fan.
Wayne Chrebet won nothing in New York and played very small in big games. Just because he had a cute backstory and was an underdog local boy who did good doesn't mean he was anything other than another loser that couldn't get it done when given the opportunity to win a championship.

While I agree with the sentiment of your post (only no 12 should be retired at this point). I think your reply was a little harsh. I mean both Chrebet and Martin were warriors that should be remembered and it is sad they never won a championship. But without it, I don't agree with retiring their Jerseys either. Chrebet gave everything he had physically to this team. I wish we had more of him.
Maybe Gholston can drain some of his ESSENCE ... (remember the Dark Crystal anyone ?)

I don't think Chrebet should have his jersey retired but I agree with you Dunnie, that was a harsh post. Not accurate at all. Chrebet was a very good, but not great player for the Jets. I also agree that only Namath is worthy of having his jersey retired, maybe Maynard. I like Klecko but why did the Jets wait almost 20 years after Klecko retired to retire his jersey? Sounds like a desperation move.

Klecko was a Hall of Fame player that can't seem to get into the hall of fame. The retirement of his jersey, may have been a nod to that fact.

Toon and Walker were not only better than CHrebet, they did just as much for the Jets. Fans really dig Chrebet because he was a nobody that somehow made it as a starter in the NFL, plus he's a local guy, plus he played alongside a jerk like Keyshawn, who put him down all the time, and the fans circled around Wayne, but in the end, he was an average NFL wide reciever that most of us would not remember except for the fact that he played in New York and made a few big plays here.

so here is a story I think is worth sharing. 3 years ago, in November/ December ish of 2005, some friends and I went to Crossgates Mall in Albany, NY. not looking for anything in particular, just going to the mall. i was looking for something in particular though, a jersey of my beloved hero, Vinny Testaverde. we went in a sports store or 2, and i asked, do you have any Vinny Testaverde jerseys? the answers were no. i was like wtf. finally, we went in a store called "The Stadium" where they had tons of jerseys from tons of different teams, including many Jets. i figured i would be in business! i turned the store upside down trying to find my hero, but to no avail. finally, i went up to the store owner and asked, do you have any Vinny Testaverde jerseys? the guy responded "We only have jerseys of good players." i was not thrilled with that. i said, let me explain something to you, Vinny Testaverde is the greatest player in football history, and you don't carry his jersey? what kind of store is this? he said o, Joe Montana is better. i said HAH, Joe Montana? Vinny has more yards than him, obviously he's not better. i said listen, if you just stocked Vinny Testaverde jerseys, it would actually put this store on the map, people would flock to this store to buy the jerseys, and they'd realize what a quality store this is for carrying a jersey of such a quality player. i then went on to say, that is not the case right now. so he said o, but Vinny's washed up. i said HAH! was he washed up when he went 13-19 for 163 yards to defeat the 5-0 Buccaneers? so i argued the virtues of Vinny with this gentleman for about a half hour, but stupidly he didn't give in to stocking Vinny jerseys. too bad, it's his loss, that would've put "The Stadium" on the map. what an idiot!

Well I have a New jersey and Jets337 is in it. That was a joke. My last jersey was Chad, and I haven't had the money for a new one since. They are something like 50 or 60 thousand dollars a piece for and offical NFL jersey. I do have lots of other funky stuff, ties, masks(like GreenMachines avitar), mugs, shotglasses my lucky Jets troll with long green hair who sits on the TV during a game and loads of random stuff around my house to keep away opposing fans. (I didn't say Pats fans just for The Green Titan, he's tired of hearing it).

Okay, my confusion here. I have a whole closet full of Jersey's I dont wear very often. My sec 337 I wear to the gamnes. In may closet, I have an Esiason, Foley, Namath, Coles, Pennington, Martin, Keyshawn Johnson, John Abraham. Johnson and Abrahams were authentic, and each was promptly traded the season after I got them. Hence, my decision to go with my section and seat number.
I never broke down and got a Favre jersey, but whould have if we got to playoffs.

Scott. he's the only one who should be around a few years for sure. Failing that, go throwback. One can't go wrong with a Namath, Boozer, Maynard, Chrebet, Toon, Martin, Klecko....... you get the picture.
Only jersey I'd wear is either Wesley Walker or Bruce Harper but Harper is ruined for me.

Harper grew up and played where I live so I should consider him as well. Why is Harper ruined for you?

I don't want it to look like I'm copying Fireman Ed.
The last 2 games I went to had fake Fireman Ed's! What's up with that. At a Dolphin game once, towards the endzone, one guy was dressed like him with the hat and all. I started waving telling my brother, "Look its the biggest Jet fan...Fireman Ed..the guy that does the Jet chants." The phony was waving to me and all. Then my brother replied.."Look on the Jumbotron...He's a fake..The real one is on the big screen now." I felt hoodwinked.

Some of us have the propensity to latch on to certain words and use them endlessly for awhile. HORRIBLE was one, and then HOODWINKED. I will now return to using both words, as often as possible, even when not appropriate to the conversation. This way, no one will feel HORRIBLE or HOODWINKED.
Thank you.

Hi there fellow Jet fans. Please help me pick out a jersey. I'm really geared towards buying a green(away) jersey with Revis on the back. Most likely it will be his but I was considering Leon Washngton's also. Maybe even D. Harris since I wore that number in H.S and played LB/RG. What the heck..Faneca maybe. If someone can help me put together a poll as follows and if you guys can vote on it...:confused:
Revis
L.Washington
Harris
Faneca

Hey guys, I'm getting a Jets jersey for my birthday, but I'm torn about which to pick? What are your thoughts?
My favorite players (In no particular order) are:
Brett Favre
Leon Washington
Thomas Jones
Darelle Revis
Kerry Rhodes
Kris Jenkins
Dustin Keller
Keep in mind that I want a franchise player, I bought a Vilma jersey last year and we traded him so that was disappointing. I'm leaning towards Keller, Washington or Revis, thoughts?
I'd say Revis, they would be crazy to let him go.

I was thinking of making "GOT FAVRE" shirts and selling them last year, but it would be difficult to sell them now lol. I've officially decided
to go with the REVIS jersey. Thanks for all the help guys.

Anyone buying jerseys should visit nflshop.com. They have 30% off on most merchandise. I just got a Revis and Jenkins jersey for 117.00. Not bad at all.
P.S they didn't have L.Wash. jersey in green.

I almost ordered a Scott jersey, but I wasn't sure how he'd do this season and I'm worried it might be unlucky to get it before he plays for us at all. I'm superstitious like that, I got a Leon Washington jersey and I would be really upset if he was traded. Revis or Scott are my back-ups if he does.

I don't really wear jerseys but if I did it would be a retired player who is identified as a Jet. I want them to prove their loyalty to the Jets before I show loyalty to them. If I were to order a jersey to day it would be Wesley Walker.
Let Scott play with the Jets for 6 years, retire as an all pro and a ring and I'll consider getting his jersey. :)

I got an email back from the company.
I checked if the 3-5 additional days were with the standard shipping or if it carried to express too, and it does
she said it should be shipped by tomorrow the latest!
"As stated on the website you need to allow 3-5 business days for the jersey to be made up. Once the jersey is complete it the jersey will ship 3 day select. Although you are paying for a replica jersey, we do not have this one in stock yet so our customizer is making them as they are ordered."
